About Safe Pass Courses

The Safe Pass programme is a one-day basic safety awareness training course aimed at all construction site personnel including craft workers and "on site" security personnel in the construction industry. It is to ensure that they have a basic knowledge of health and safety with a view to the prevention of accidents and avoidance of health hazards.

The Construction Regulations require all site workers to have a SOLAS Safe Pass card. Any person wishing to undertake a SOLAS C.S.C.S. course must have the Safe Pass course completed first.

Candidates for all Safe Pass courses must have a good understanding of the English language (unless otherwise specified) and be 16 years of age or over. Where a person attending has difficulty with reading and writing they should approach the tutor prior to the start of the course to highlight the problem. The tutor will be happy to fill in all the forms for the candidate.

There is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course. Questions and answers will be read out by the tutor.

The subjects covered in the Safe Pass Course are:

  • Promotion of Safety
  • Duties and Responsibilities at Work
